What is the name of your state? Ohio. What sould I do? Son driving car not titled to him(was buying it from someone else), has no insurance, & using plate from previous accident . Husband doesn't want to file charges against son. But wants it in my name, he (hubby) has CDL & can't afford to lose license)since he paid ballance of pymt. What can be done to keep us protected if son has wreck?What is the name of your state?

If the car is titled to your husband (or you) either title it to your son, or take possession of it from him and keep it away from your son. That's the best way.

You only other alternative is to register the car and put plates on it and make sure you have good liability insurance to cover you for the inevitable lawsuit when your irresponsible son crashes into someone.

Thanks for your reply. Car not yet titled to husband or myself, but someone else. Should they report it stolen? They had aggeement that he would do ALL legal (tags, title transfer, & insure )BEFORE driving it. But has failed to do anything.

Is your son a minor?
If not, then why don't you let your son handle this. If he is a minor, then why would you let him buy a car to begin with? :rolleyes:
