What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

I live in New York. This is my situation. A month ago my friend took me to someone's house to take pictures of horses, I asked him if I could go there whenever he was going there to clean them, he works there. So I took the pictures and post them on my photography college photo forum for other students to comment and criticize. I put 5 pictures, his first and last name and his job. (investor of company name*, he is a famous person), no comments, nothing, just that.

Now this rich, famous guy wants to sue me, for posting the pictures and his name. He also said I'm getting into his personal life, and is affecting his family (O.o ? how?). When I googled his name, it showed everywhere his name and his job. I don't know what to do, and im scared. I'm only 20, starting my degree in photography. I didn't mean to talk about him or put his 'personal life' out there.

HELP PLEASEEEEE !!!

Thanks alot.

well, regardless of what else happens, your friend did not have the authority to allow you onto another persons property. That means you were trespassing.

and why would you post his guys name and business? What does it have to do with the pics?

has he made any demands yet? Has he actually filed a suit or just threatening?

he is threatening!
well my friends is 50 years old, works for them along time and brings people to see the horses. I know it was a stupid thing to post his name and business, but I did.

well, you need to find out what it would take to make him not sue you.

Regardless of whether he has a valid suit or not, if he files suit, you will spend money to defend it.

and unless your friend was given permission to bring strangers onto the property, you were still trespassing.

How is he contacting you?

Try taking the photos down and saying you are sorry. Ultimately, that is probably all that this person expects from you ... I doubt he will want to spend the money to sue you when there is not much chance in recouping even his attorney's fees.

CDWJAVA: I did removed the pictures as soon as my friend called me he was pissed, I even contacted my college and they deleted the topic.

justalayman: I didn't talk to him yet, I contact him trough my friend, he asked me to write a letter saying what I did, and I did, I even apologized and stated that I removed everything from the forum.

any response yet?

and further threats via your friend?

If he hasn't responded, maybe he is satisfied with your actions.

can you get sued? absolutely

will he win? impossible to tell as we have no facts to even base a guess on.

anybody can file a suit. As I stated previously, if he files suit, you will need to defend yourself. It will cost you money regardless of whether he wins or not.
