As I understand the Code of Virginia (specifically 40.1-29), an employer must pay an employee for all time spent on business matters. This would mean that an employee who was "off the clock" and at home, who received a phone call from his/her employer who discussed matters of business with the employee would be entitled to pay for the time spent discussing business (or) for a specified time segment that the employer used as his pay time breakdown....eg, 5min segments for payroll purposes.
Am I correct in my understanding?
