HIPAA Violation - please advise

My fiance and I split up. She began a process of harassing me after the break, and crossed a line I would never have believed possible.

She left me a message stating that she had received specific information from my medical records, including the date of a recent hospitalization, and the medications that were prescribed me. She stated that she got this information from a friend who works in the hospital. The information she presented was accurate, and I can think of no other way she could have gotten her hands on it.

I filed a complaint with the hospital, and they are investigating, but the latest update from them is that they are unable to find any inappropriate access to my medical records.

What do you want to do? I suppose you can always pay an attorney to sue the hospital, but without damages (or proof of wrongdoing) that will go nowhere.

They won't do anything about it.I have just went through the same thing.I was married for 24 years then one day I came home from work and my husband had moved all his stuff out.I didn't know it but he was having a affair and moved in with his mistriss.Well they both work for the hospital, the women he was having the affair with is some kind of a big boss for the hospital.Well right after he left I ended up in the hospital.He called me in the hospital telling me about my condition bragging how him and his girlfriend can read everything they do to me, he even knew the day I was going home before I did. He even gave his attorney private information that his attorney tried to use to their advantage in court while I was in the hospital.When I got out I called the hospital several times and told them about it and they did nothing. I filed a complaint with the hippa people and they did nothing. I was told the two of them had to watch a film on the hippa laws that was it. Can you believe thats all that got done for the laws being broken like that?
