Hi there. My girlfriend is going to sign a new talent manager and his whole family are lawyers. We want to make sure she is safe and protected under this agreement and I really cant understand this paragraph:

(c) In addition to the commissions payable pursuant to Section 4 hereof; Artist agrees to pay to Manager, in perpetuity,
commissions on all Artist’s Gross Receipts paid, payable, earned or accrued subsequent to (i) the expiration of the Term;
(ii) the termination of this Agreement; or (iii) the termination of the engagement of Manager hereunder, which are paid
under any contract entered into or substantially initiated or negotiated or designed, during the Term hereof or prior to
the termination of this Agreement or the engagement of the Manager hereunder, as applicable, regardless of when Artist's
services are performed. The commissions payable to Manager pursuant to this Section 4 shall be at the rate of fifteen
percent (15%) of Artist’s Gross Receipts.

To me what I feel like this says is that if and when her contract with him terminates, she doesn't owe him any more money. But it seems like its saying the opposite, that she will owe him 15% of her income for the rest of her life.

Please help,

Thanks,
Andrew

Your girlfriend should have the contract personally reviewed in its entirety by an attorney in her area prior to signing. It is more important for HER to understand what she is signing than it is for YOU to understand what she is signing. ;)

As for us helping you decipher the single clause, no one on this site is able to provide you with a legal opinion on the wording of the contract. That gets into the practice of law. For those on this forum who are attorneys, it would violates rules and ethics, and for those on this forum who are not attorneys, it would be an unauthorized practice of law. Plus, it is against the terms and conditions of this site.

Good luck.
