What is the name of your state?FL

I own a single family residence, and my boyfriend and I have been seeing each other for two years.

The majority of the time my boyfriend stays at my residence....He still pays rent on a room to his landlord at another residence. The only time that my boyfriend spends the night at his 'other' residence is when we argue (which is maybe once every two months or more).

Today we had an argument....I gave him all of his belongings... (Tools, clothes, personal hygiene items, laptop, and PS2...etc)

Well on his way out he says...."Never mind I want to stay...everything will be OK".....I tell him to take a long walk on a short bridge..... (Actually more explicit than that...but that's the jist)

Well about an hour and half passes and the law comes knocking on my door.

They say...." Mr. *So-and-so* says you have his belongings and wants to retrieve them"

I tell the police officer that ..."He took all of his stuff about two hours ago...I have nothing of his here"

The one police officer took him aside and told him something while the other officer asked me for background.

The one officer (who too boyfriend aside) yelled for the other officer (the one who was asking for background from me)....and he said..."Hope you have a better day than you have had so far"

I said thanks. And goodbye

It is my understanding that there is two ways (under Florida law) that my boyfriend can collect...or have my residence searched for his belongings...

1. Small claims court judgment.
2. RO...(Don’t think he will. I have never been violent...not my style)...which I know there can be a clause in there that he can retrieve his belongings from my house under supervision.

I have none of his belongings (I think he just like to harass me) ...Are my "understandings" right?

What can I do, if anything, to protect my rights?

That is pretty much accurate. However if he would actually bring the police to your door after you sent all of his belongings with him....then I hope you think it through very carefully before deciding to let him back in. I hope this isn't the way you want to live the rest of your life.

No...I am done. There is just too much "water under the bridge" if you know what I am saying.

I just wanted to know what the options that were open to my idiot of an X were....And thanks for reassuring that my assumptions were correct. I am novice when it comes to searching laws on the web.

I guess since he already has his belongings... that I really have nothing to worry about.

Like I said, He is probably blowing hot air...just trying to harass me. But I needed reassurance that what I believed was right.

What really made me laugh is when he turned to one of the officers (the same one that took him to the side) and said "I want to swear a search warrant out on her premises. Where do I sign?"..."I want you to search them (my house) now"

Thanks again LdiJ!
