I bought into a 29-unit complex on January 10'. A developer owns 16 of 29 units and members of the development company sit in 3 of the 4 Board positions.
They have place a $6700 special assessment to each of the owners in June 2010. From reviewing the work orders of the work done and the work to be done, it seems as though most of this work is being done to the buildings where the developer owns most of the units. My question is, this assessment includes work that was done before I took ownership of the condo (Aug-Nov 2009) Am I entitled to pay for that part of the assessment? Also, if work was being done to upgrade some units, should the HOA or the previous owners have disclosed to me that an assessment was going to take place or that the complex was going to have repair work done before I closed on this sale?
Thank youWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
