I work for scrooge! He says he CAN'T pay for Christmas because it is illegal! Only people who usually work on the day the office is closed are eligable.( Ex. ) Friday workers only, get Dec. 24th! We are workers you have worked 30-38 hours a week and he has paid for Thanksgiving in this manner. We just want to know if this is a load of scrooge bull or is there really such a law? Sounds strange to us.

there's no federal law that prohibits (or requires) employers to pay employees for holiday benefits. basically, private companies can make you work (or tell you not to work) and they only have to pay you if you work -- at regular rates, and without any required holiday premium.

basically, you only have the company's promises (contract) to depend on. So, did they "promise" holiday pay in a company manual, or is there a long-standing history of paying holiday pay when they fall on a weekend? if not, you lose, you get the day off without pay like me...
