My response:

I just love "negative pregnant" statements.

My response:

Statistics show that over 600 people will die over this Holiday weekend.

So, to all of you who come to these forums that won't be coming back after Monday, I'd just like to take this moment to say "Good-bye" to you.

Can we pick and choose who can be 'volunteered' to be in that 600?? If so, I have a few to suggest.

Just had a taste of the brisket (Mmmmmm.... GOOD!) and thought I would say have a Happy 4th to all of you.

THANK YOU to those that are are spending this Holiday, and others, defending and protecting our liberty and freedoms....
and even a greater THANK YOU to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could continue to celebrate the birthday of this incredible country!!
(and on a personal note, thank you to my uncle, who died on 21 June 1945, serving with the US Marine Corps in the Pacific theatre.... killed while 'on point' during a patrol by a Japanese sniper!!) and to my dad, who was one of the 30 or so Marines left out of the 245 in his original company (1st Marines, 1-1-C) who survived the battle at Hill 100 ('Walts Ridge') at Peleliu..

So, with that........
I am keeping the hickory hot on the old smoker (fired up early this morning).
Got about 20 pounds of brisket, 10 pounds of ribs, and about 5 pounds of sausage (beef and venison) cooking.
Barbecue sauce is simmering.
Potato salad is made.
Sides of beans and cole slaw in progress....
Watermelon (and BEER) on ice.
All working towards a small private fireworks display to go tonight.
After the fireworks, the hand cranked ice cream should be about ready.

And, yep, got my flags flying proudly at the gates near the front of the estate.

JetX, if I asked nicely would you open the gate? I promise I wouldn't be a nuisance, you wouldn't even know I was there. :)
