There is a local hospital in my area that will not allow me to apply for staff privledges because I am a podiatrist, and they do not allow podiatrists on staff at their hospital. I have never heard of such a restriction. I have full staff and surgical privledges at other hospitals. Can a hospital deny me staff privledges based solely on my profession, despite being fully licensed by the state (Indiana) in which I practice?

Most hospitals in my state have an absoulte right to admit or refuse practice privileges. You'd best check with Indiana's podiatrist's association.
