I'm in Washington, DC where lawyers seem to outnumber the trees so I'd like to not get sued for this. I am a non-profit organization and I want a local DJ to make a mix of music to share for an upcoming event. The music on the mix is copyrighted and I have not obtained permission to use all of the music. Can I share this music through my website?

It would be available as a free download, and that download would occur through a third party file-sharing website. I would post a link to the file-sharing website on my website. I will also include a disclaimer with the download stating that neither myself nor the DJ owns any of the music.

Also, the album will be one long, continuous track. The songs won't be separated individually.

Why don't you ask the RIAA?

You need to pay for the music you provide at a venue, no matter how you provide it. I think it's a basic license which is easily available.

The bolded items above could cost you a buttload of money if you do what you plan without permission. Your disclaimer is useless, you can't hide behind a disclaimer that violates the law.

In fact, the "disclaimer" seems more like a written admission of guilt...
