I'm employed in Colorado.

My company hired me on, with a contract stating a semi-monthly rate of a set amount. today, I was informed that I have an hourly rate, though I was never advised of this, and my contract doesn't state this. I signed my contract a month ago, and no documents I have state hourly rate. Payroll is saying there is an hourly rate.

If you job duties qualify you as non-exempt (I don't know if they do; you haven't given us any indication of them) then they MUST pay you on an hourly basis. That is Federal law and the law of most if not all states.

What many people assume is a contract is actually an offer letter. Are you 100% certain that what you have is an bona fide contract?

Yes, it's an offer letter. The only other things I signed for the position were security forms.

I'm an exempt employee.

It is very, very rare that an offer letter reaches the level of a contract or can be considered to be binding.

A question; as long as you receive the same amount of money, what difference does it make how it's figured?

Plus, in most companies, exempt employees have an hourly rate on the payroll system for purposes of allocating time off.
