What is the name of your state? Texas

I just looked up the tax appraisal of my home on my county's appraisal website. However, I have a feeling that the actual value is higher than the tax appraisal. What is the quickest resource I can use to find out a ballpark selling price of the home without getting an actual appraisal done on it?

You could ask three or four real estate agents (from different companies) to do a "drive by" appraisal.

The tax appraisal has nothing to do with market value.

You can also google "house values". There are quite a few sites that may help you get the information you are looking for. At least it is a place to start.

Also look at "homes for sale in your area" and see what they are selling for. Obviously compare "apples to apples" for a true estimated figure.

**A: no, it's generally lower and in an active seller's market it is much lower, generally speaking.

What you have here is a TAX ASSESSMENT which you looked up on you county tax assessment (not tax appraisal) website. An assessment and an appraisal is not the same thing. If you want a true market value for your home, you need to have an appraisal done by an appraiser. (or, if your cheap, call in a few Realtors for a Market Analysis.
