How can I approach the situation for a person whose life is in danger?

Hello, a couple years ago my son was involved with a minor and he was overage. Her parents found out and pressed charges. He was a resident until the charges were pressed against him. Then he lost his residency and was kicked out of the country. Shortly after he was threatened and his life was endangered outside of the USA. Because of the threats, he illegally attempted to cross the border and was caught in Mexico. The woman he was involved with didn't want the charges pressed against him and wants to marry him. He is now in prison and he says his case was reviewed. He showed proof of the threatening messages and in El Salvador he was chased with a gun... I fear his safety.. He said that he has to stay in prison for another 10 months. What would be the best way to approach this? Should I hire a lawyer immediately? Is there anything I can do to minimize the sentence? Could I do anything for him to possibly be a resident or for a way for him to stay here?

If he is in a Mexican prison, you would want to speak with a Mexican lawyer. Nothing anybody here can do for you or him.

I suggest he move to another part of his country where he has not made enemies when released from prison.
