I was pulled over for speeding in South Dakota and then arrested for a misdemeanor warrant. The highway patrol officer had me sign the ticket at the jail. I never received a copy. I called the courthouse a few days later, and they have no record of it. How long does the trooper have to file it? My warrant was filed two months after the incident happened, and I was not notified of charges being pressed. Can they do the same thing with a speeding ticket? It was for about 25 over so I don't think he'd just choose to let it go. I don't want to be hit with another surprise warrant.

If you don't yet have an attorney, you would be smart to consult with one now.
