Call the court clerk at the courthouse in CA which granted the divorce. The should be able to tell you what you need to do, how much the fees are and an approximate length of time for you to receive it.

If you show up in person, they usually can do it while you wait. If you call up and ask for it to be sent, it will probably take a day or so plus however long the mail takes.

It helps if you have the exact information (date it was issued, etc...) to get it. And yes, you'll need to know what court it was.

LOL.... when I was there, it was taking the better part of a month or two IF YOU WERE LUCKY.

Depending on the county, some courts have started uploading scanned documents online and you can print them from there. Otherwise, write the court, send your case number, case name and a request for copies. Include a blank check that says NOT TO EXCEED and pick an arbitrary, yes reasonable amount (like $10). Write it just under the line where you write out the amount or in the memo section... then wait. They'll get to it when they get to it, but just be aware that case copies are on the bottom of the priority list with the budget cutbacks.

Really? You are going to do this again? Nothing better to do in whatever fictitious country you are in?

This thread was reported.

I agree with Zigner's earlier assessment of this poster. No need to encourage her. ;)

You thanked them. That was nice.

It might be a good idea if you take all that you have been given in the way of advice in your various threads and use it as you see fit.

Good luck in Japan, the Phillipines, Mexico and/or wherever in the US you happen to be now (Texas? California?).
