What is the name of your state? Arizona!!!
I have got a real quick question.(sorta, maybe) I have checked into the links that have been suggested to me through this forum but I can not find exactly what is considered to be abandonment in AZ. Is it the same in all states?? My ex has been in and out of jail since we split and has a SEVERE alcohol problem. he had been in and out of rehab and it has been almost a year since he made any effort to contact our son. The last conted was one time last oct.
He had cantacted me about 2weeks prior and convinced me he was ready to change. he saw him once and was gone again. he also gave me $75. and said he would resume CS pymnts. ( even though he has only paid $200. in the last 3 years. ) Also is arizona a state that does not have equal parental rights for unmarried parents?? I have heard mixed answers on this.

Thank you all much!! I appreciate all the help you've already given to me.

The applicable state statute can be found here:

http://www.calib.com/nccanch/statutes/stats02/termin/az.cfm

However, I have not yet (nor do I think there is) a specific statute dealing with child abandonment alone. Most of what I have read in the Arizona state statutes regards abandonment in relationship to other situations such as Child Protective Services.

This is not something I would want to pursue without an Arizona Attorney to petition the court.
