What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
How can i contest Ca. vc 24250?

I was towing a small motorcycle trailer empty at the time. My truck tail lights were clearly visible. Highway bull pulls me over and says i dont have any lights on the trailer. The trailer lights work and i have the correct plug on my truck. The trailer is extremely bouncy so i'm guessing i didn't have it plugged tight enough and it rattled loose. The cop wasn't hearing any of it and wrote me what I thought was going to be a correctable violation. It appears its not and carries a fine of 238. If i go to traffic school it's 299 which in itself makes no sense. How can i fight this? The fine is ridiculous. Also, the ticket states a different location then where i was actually pulled over. Not sure if it helps my case any but there it is.

24250. During darkness, a vehicle shall be equipped with lighted
lighting equipment as required for the vehicle by this chapter.

In other words, you are asking us to tell you how to "get out of" a ticket that you readily admit was valid because you didn't make sure that you trailer was properly attached (including electrical connections) to the tow vehicle...right? I just want to make sure we're all on the same page.

It sounds like you have no defense beyond "that's too much money".

My suggestion is to get the matter corrected, provide some proof of the correction, and then bring it to the court and HOPE that the court will decide to make the matter correctable.

The COURT can always make it correctable even if the officer has chosen not to.

Now, if the court refuses to accept your correction, then you really appear to have no defense ... other than to appear in court and hope the officer does not appear and you can make a motion to dismiss.

Oh, and the location of the stop does not have to be the same as the location of the violation. That issue is a non-starter.

Additionally, if you choose NOT to plead guilty, you may not have the option of traffic school if you are found guilty.
