What is the name of your state (Ca::confused: law)?

I have hired a lawyer back in March to get back my father artworks which was on consignment with an agent (the agent didn't want to give them back), everything went great the case was going to be easy and it will take only 2 to 3 month, then the lawyer quit without any words whatsoever nobody from the office called to let me know.

Finally in May I called to asked what was going on? Then his partner took over but the problem he doesn't care about the case when I try to talked to him he's just not interested as matter of fact my husband tried to talked to him, he told him its going to be his way or we have to take the highway, the problem I already paid him up front...my question will be what can I do? Is there anything I can do? First against the agent and then the lawyer. Thanks for any input.

Why was your father's artwork in the hands of an agent? You need to provide a lot more information before anyone can help you.

How much did you pay the lawyer? You may be able to sue for your money back in small claims court. Did you get any paperwork from him? If the case was so "easy," why did he require upfront payment?

You can file a complaint with the State Bar of Callfornia. That's not a guarantee that any action will be taken against the law office, but at least you'll have something on record.

she was at one time the " consignee" and when I realized she wasn't strait forward with me, at one time I believed in her then when the artworks started to take off, when asked for the full price (sold) and to whom as required by law she refused so, I removed her as consignee, she kept lots of artworks that's why I had to take a lawyer.
