What is the name of your state? ohio

I have two inventions I would like to patent. I have absolutely no idea how to. I have searched online using google and have found no similar products. One is a sports training device and one is a drink. What steps do I need to take? Thanks in advance, -B

You can either patent the inventions yourself, or hire someone to help you. Either way, head over to www.uspto.gov, in particular http://www.uspto.gov/web/patents/howtopat.htm -- they have a lot of resources to help inventors draft and file a patent application. However, if you've never done this before, it might be worthwhile to at least sit down and talk with a patent agent or patent attorney to determine whether the cost to have a pro do it for you is worthwhile. You can search for a registered patent agent or patent attorney in your area at http://des.uspto.gov/OEDCI/, or you can search for patent agents and attorneys via Google. Your local bookstore, Amazon.com, or your local library will also have books on how to obtain a patent yourself.

Just searching google for product is not enough, you need to
1. Test novelty first based on prior art (technical stuff)
2. Once sure about novelty then consult legal person (for legal stuff) or if you have knowledge about patent then your job is easy for rest.
