Microsoft has developed a family of characters such as The Dot (smiley-faced red ball), F1, Links(cat), Rocky(dog) and others. I think that the characted inself(like a picture) can be protecred as a trade mark, the technology of charactor animation can be protected by copyright, and the idea of using it in the software can be patented...
Mainly I'm interested in patenting... can the actions of animated charactor and the charactor itself be patented like an industrial desing or invention???
