My ex wife and I had an ugly divorce and are not on speaking terms unless it involves our son. In our divorce, she was awarded half of my pension once I retire from the Army. What is the process of her actually receiving this? From my research, I keep coming across "the age of 60" and the QDRO. I retire in a couple years but I am not sure she knows that. Thanks.

QDRO isn't really the right term. Military pensions are different than the normal (civilian) retirement plans. Her lawyer needs tog get her an MDPO and to file a 2293 timely with the issuance of such.

Was she your spouse for at least 10 years of your military career? If so, then it can be set up so that the military pays her, her half directly, and you will not be involved at all (other than perhaps in the setting of it up). You should be speaking to DFAS about how to set it up, since you will be in contempt of court if you allow them to pay you the entire pension. Believe me, this in nothing unusual for them.
