husband lawyer called me at work

What is the name of your state? pa

i am in the middle of a divorce and recently had to fire my lawyer because i coudn't afford her anymore. my husband's lawyer just called me at work, yelled at me and then told me if i don't do what they want they will take me to court and make me look real bad and then hung up. i was literally shaking and crying at my desk. is this ethical?

Yes, absolutely. That's because you're acting as your own attorney. Sometimes, discussions turn heated. If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen - - by hiring another attorney.

Attys can be (LEGALLY) nasty and threatening. If a pro per (person rep'g him/herself) can't take the 'heat' of negotiating with someone who is insulting, or abrasive, or nasty, then HIRE AN ATTY.


If someone is shaking and crying after talking with opposing counsel, then HIRE AN ATTY, DON'T ACT AS YOUR OWN ATTY.

Only people with intelligence, fortitude, strong control, and humor should act as their own atty.

If you're going to cry when the nasty atty says bad things, hire an atty.
