I live in Arkansas and have been married for 4 years. My husband had the home we now reside in for about 2 1/2 years before we were married. He also had a vehicle prior to our marriage for about 1 year. After we were married we decided to get rid of my car & payment and purchase a vehicle that was more affordable. He found a vehicle to buy out right and said that he would buy this vehicle for his use and give me the other vehicle for my use. For 4 years I have driven this car and paid the payments and finally paid it off, while he drove the other vehicle - Note - both vehicles are in his name. For the past year we have been having serious problems and he has become very abusesive. He has not worked in 13 months and I have been paying all the bills etc. since I am the only one with income. I have let my children witness TOO MUCH of this and finally got enough and decided to leave before someone got hurt. He then took my keychain and removed my keys from it and has left me with absoultly no transportation. Do I have any rights to my car back? Can he do this and leave me with no way to get to work care for my children etc.?

My response:

No, of course not. But, there's nothing we can do for you from here either. You need to see a Family Law attorney as soon as possible.
