Hello everybody,

This week I'm going to send off the papers for I-751 application. My conditional GC expires in 2 months.

1. Do I have to apply for another work permit before this GC expires? Can I still legally keep working after expiration (before unconditional GC approval)?
2. How long (many months) does it approx./usually take to get approval for unconditional GC?
3. We do not have family here in US and only 1 friend who is willing to sign an affidavit. Is that good enough? It states you need 2 affidavits?
4. If I need to go home (emergency), can I still come back to US, even if the conditional GC might have been expired by then? Or, do I need to apply for advance parole papers? Please let me know soon.

Thanks for your time. Any reply and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
To all of you good luck and wishing you all the best in the future!

Did you search any posts here for I-751? This has been explained before.

You do not apply for work permision; you are still a PR if you have properly filed the I-751. Filing extends your Green Card validity for one year. You will get a NOA to that effect.
Repeat: as long as you file I-751, you are still a Permanent Resident with all the same rights and responsibilities as ever until you are told otherwise by USCIS.

Decisions take 3-18 months, depending on where you file.

Read the instructions again. Affidavits are not required at all, but you may include them if you like.

You may travel on the expired card + NOA.
