What is the name of your state? NY
I rented a duplex, signed a 1 year lease. lived there 6 months, other tenents teenage son smoked pot in back yard alot, I complained twice, nothing happened, I was fed up, the kids next door made living there unbearable, packed up my kids and moved out, didn't tell landlord, he re-rented the duplex within 2 weeks, I know because I drove by every day so I would know how long it was empty.

I get a letter for small claims, for $1650, claiming "damage to property (wasn't there when I moved out, I took pictures), failed to pay rent( I owed 1 month), breech of lease, loss of use of property(was empty not even 2 weeks)."

I have to add that I had stuff in there still and he changed the locks and I had to have a policeman escort me to get the stuff.

In reality, whats the amount I will end up paying?

Obviously NO ONE can answer that.
You can be liable for anywhere from one month rent up to the full claim of $1650.... plus court costs and interest until paid.
