I've been on probation for the past 2 1/2 years and have about 6 months left of probation. The only thing keeping me on probation now is a restitution fee I must pay. I recently hired a lawyer to file a motion for Administrative probation for fear that I may not be able to pay off my restitution on time.
My lawyer advised me to not mention anything to my probation officer about hiring a lawyer. Today I went to do my monthly report and my PO found out that I hired a lawyer because of court documents that were filed. She was upset to say the least about not telling her but what made her more upset was the fact that the lawyer had stated that he had spoken to my PO and that she mentioned to him that I was compliant when really I have restitution left. This made her quite angry.
I'm worried about this. Will my PO cause problems for me from here until the end of my probation? What can my PO do against me while on probation? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
