I have recently had back surgery and after surgery I could not urinate so I had to have a folley placed inside my penis. The Dr. abruptly forced my wife out of the room and proceeded to shove the folley inside my penis causing a tremendous amount of pain. I repeatedly told the Dr. about the pain he was causing and he ignored me and continued to shove. After he finished I grabbed my penis and asked him to releive the pain. There was a tremendous amount of blood/pus coming from the penis area. The Dr. did nothing but gathered his materials and left the room while I layed in bed in pain. I asked the nurses for help with the pain and they did nothing. I am now experiencing pain when I urinate, ejaculate and having erection problems. What do I do?

1. Your wife should have left the room without having to be forced out.
2. An MD inserted a urinary catheter? Be glad he didn't put in your IV. There's a reason MDs usually only catheterize patients who are under general anesthesia! same goes for MDs starting IVs!
3. Obviously, you needed the catheter: you could not urinate; pus and blood were present in your urinary tract at the time of catheterization, so naturally it would have hurt...plus, your bladder was distended with urine and that is painful.
4. You will get over this with time. Try avoiding sexual activity until your urinary tract health improves. If you are still having trouble voiding, you need to be evaluated by a physician.
5. For you and every other man out there who reads this--there are NO NERVES (that can "feel") inside the urethra (through which the catheter passes); if there were nerves inside the urethra, no man would ever, ever ejaculate on purpose. Think about it.

Oh--I see no basis for any complaint, ethical or medical malpractice.

You are missing telling us:

How long ago was this?

Why did he put it in? (not the nursing staff)

Where was your back surgery? (Cauda Equina Syndrome, Lumbar, Thoracic, etc...)

Had anyone attempted to cath you earlier?

Ellen is right, I cannot remember the last time I put in an IV, let alone a catheter, however, I could see it being done by a Specialist (Nephrology for BPH for example) for cause.

Post more info.

If you look at OP's other posts it becomes clear why he is not posting facts here. Also his state changes.

I am on workers compensation and have recently had back surgery, and am
declared not able to work in the state of Delaware. I was receiving compensation from the insurance company until I asked them for reimbursement for my mileage for the year of 2004. They have stopped my checks now for 3 weeks and sent me a letter stating that they will no longer handle my workers compensation claim as of January 29, 2005. I spoke to my lawyer and he stated that he will not push the companys lawyer to give me my reimbusement check because the company lawyer is his freind and that they are making a change over so that another company will submit me my weekly checks. Is this true? What do I do?

I recently had back surgery and while I was in the hospital for three days,
I had an incident where the house Dr. shoved the folley into my penis and caused me to bleed tremedously and the pain level was very high. I asked the Dr. to help me and he grabbed his materials and left the room. I began to ask the nurses that night for help with the pain in my penis and they did nothing. The next morning I showed the nurse the amount of blood on my penis and she ignored me never cleansing the area. My roommate who was white had a one on one nurse, who cleansed him and fed him while I layed in the bed helpless and weak full of blood in my private area. Finally the nurse brought me a bucket of water and told me to cleanse myself. I layed in the bed from 7-2p.m. crying until my wife could come and help me. For the next 2 days the nurses were only concerned about helping my roommate so I asked the Dr. to discharge me because of neglect. What do I do. I have asked the Human relations commission and the ACLU to help me and thy denied, What am I to do?

Thank You, They are not on my hard drive, but on the server. I've been burned too many times.

When viewing a post note the number of posts for the member on the upper right then go to the left and click on their name and a menu will come up with several selections profile, all posts by poster.... You can either click on all posts by poster or go to profile and have a choice of all posts or threads started by poster. Sometimes they start several threads with different facts and or seek certain advice and thus limit or control the facts. In this instance OP moved, lost his benefits and is seeking a replacement of that income.
