I live in San Diego and I ran a stop sign. I slowed down made sure it was safe and then proceeded but I didn't stop. I tried fighting the case trial by decleration but lost, I requested the police officers notes and he stated I admited guilt which I didn't. Now I have a court case again on the 18th in court. The stop sign was not visible to me there was construction going on and their was dirt on the sign covering it. Also two weeks after I recieved the ticket the stop sign was removed. Is there anything I can do I can't afford to get the ticket because if I do I get kicked off my parents insurance. I am not eligible for traffic school. And I can' afford my own insurance with the cost of school and so forth. Someone please help.

thanks Joe

It will be your word against the cops, and that usually means you lose IF THE COP SHOWS UP. If you had taken a photo of the sign immeditely after the event you'd have a better chance.

But it sounds as if this is not the first traffic ticket for you and most people learn that if they have 2 they must be VERY VERY cautious. You may have a slightly better chance by hiring a lawyer if this is a life altering event for you.
