Help! I sold a car last nite and the guy gave me all the wrong information! He seemed very shady, he left the car in the parking lot that I met him at and the car that he came in didn't have a license plate. The form that he filled out that I have to send to the DMV is all illegible and the address doesn't exsist. I called him & said that I need to get something out of the car, he said he would call me back. I decided to wait @ the parking lot (undercover) and he came back with a bunch of people. I followed him to a different city, but then I lost him. He said he lived in the neighborhood that I met him in, and I'm very familiar with that area.
I called him back again and he asked me if i moved the car cuz he said when he went back, the car wasn't there it may of gotten towed (but i saw him drive off with it). He said he would call me back after calling the tow yard.
I gave him 30min and I called him back, his "brother" answered and said he's at the tow yard. I said, "lets be honest... I saw him/you drive off witht he car and I know that he stalled on the freeway. I know the vin number of the new car he came to pick up the car with (a little white lie)". He said, "what do you care, you have the money for the car (cash, i checked to make sure it was real). He then give me 2 other different addresses.
I'm afraid that he may not register the car, and anything he does will still come back at me. The form from DMV says "WARNING! You must provide accurate, legible information or the inforamtion SHALL NOT be updated or retained!"
What happens if he robs a bank or strips it down and leaves it somewhere and i'll be stuck with the towing and storage bill?
HELP, can anyone tell me what could happen to me or what I should do? What other stuff can he do if he doesn't register the car? my insurance company said if he gets into an accident and the people he hits can come sue me!
