I am a student at the University of Iowa, and one of my friends got pulled over in my car for not having his headlights on. We were drinking, and my friend was driving my car. We were coming down a road and we saw a cop ( at this time we did not know the lights were off) and i told my friend watch out. Then we made a turn onto a side road, and the cop followed us, when his initial direction said he was going straight instead ( we beleive this because he had no signal on), he turned with us. then the cop proceeded to follow us around another turn, and then another one into a small parking lot. He then stayed there for a minute or two, and then turned his lights on. I need to know, is there a law in Iowa that says a cop must pull you over before you making 3 turns or it is considered entrapment, (forcing you to be nervous). even though they had suspision, don't they need to detain us right away, and not follow us for a block after 3 turns. Also when my friend got his breathaliser they told him he had a .0092 and then they proceeded to arrest him, then with me in the car alone they gave me a breathaliser and they said he had 10 X the level of alchol i did, so they let me go i had a .0009. Then he got his letter in the mail, and it says they are charging him with a .01 ( which is worse than a .009 in Iowa). With them letting me go can't we use that as proof that he was under .01, because wouldn't they not let me drive if i had a .001. Please message me back as soon as you can, i am really concerned, Do you think these together, with a good attorney will be enough to show that the arrest is garbage, please msg me.

I hate to burst your bubble dude, but there is almost no way out of a DUI as far as I'm concerned. The cops are allowed to almost do anything. I was in a bar saw cops in the back; waited for them to leave. When they left, I did. As soon as I proceeded to back out of the parking space, in a private parking lot. They pulled me over even before I was all the way out of the parking space. DUI City!!!!! Especially in Iowa, I grew up there and had a few situations very similar to yours. Good luck!!!

P.S.- This is all due to MADD!!!!!!!!!!!
