I live in Maryland. I did an incredibly stupid thing. Almost 2 years ago, for reasons to long to get into, I let my registration on my vehicle expire. I needed my car to get back and forth to work, so A friend gave me their year sticker to put on my tags. I have insurance and I'm not a bad person. Fear of being arrested comsumes my thoughts. I want to find out how much the DMV is going to charge me to correct this situation. I'm sure I'll have to take out a loan to pay it. I'm scared to death to call them or show up asking about it because I'm afraid I'll be arrested. How can I find out what I need to do to get my car registered. I'm not a bad person, I just did a really stupid thing and I'm breaking the law.

Why not just call anonymously and tell them your registration expired 2 years ago and you need to know what to do to renew it. Tell them you haven't driven the car or something - they don't need to know what really happened...
How did your friend get around if you had his tags?
