i was robbed at gun point one year ago. the man how committed the act is currently serving a prison sentance. can i sue this person for violation my civil rights?

You could sue him for any damages but how would you collect? Prisoners normally don't have a lot of money -- unless of course you were robbed by Martha Stewart?

why do you think he was robbing you? He didn;t have any money, that's why.

Yes, you can sue but I doubt for violating your civil rights. There are torts applicable to your situation that you could sue for.
