What is the name of your state? california. I was wonderin if a 40,000 dollar bail meant that it was a serious crime, or does the bail amount have nothing to do with it. And if it does, how much time can u get for a 40,000 dollar bail???

One would think you would state the charges. Judges do not set jail time on your bail amount.

oh ok, charges are breaking a window, and they have it under a felony ... so how much time can some1 get for that?

$40,000 for breaking windows?! That's Vandalism ... obviously felony vandalism, but the $40,000 isn't just for that single charge alone.

The potential sentence revolves around the specific criminal code section you would be convicted under, your prior criminal history, any enhancements that might apply, and some other factors ... none of which have to do with the bail amount.

A perfect example of why vandalism should not be a hobby of anyone.

$40,000 was NOT for vandalism in CA - felony or otherwise. There are additional charges here, or some form of bail enhancement was requested.
