At a custody hearing in Calofornia in May of 2001, we were ordered to phone bio father each week and let my stepson speak with him. The father had stated that he had no desire to visit his son who lives in Georgia. The 730 psycological exam showed that he was just trying to get back with the childs mother and had very little interest in the child.
I as the stepfather was ordered to initiate all calls to the bio father and allow the son to talk as long as he was comfortable.
I call collect from a pay phone each week but he has yet to accept the charges. Does this constitute non contact? In Georgia if there is no contact for one year, I understand, we can file for adoption and hopefully get his rights as a parent taken away.
And where do we have to file? In Ca. or Ga?
I've had enough of California to last a lifetime.
