What is the name of your state (only U.S. law) California

I was convicted of a felony HS 11378 back in June of 1992 served 90 in a Work Furlough and got 3 years probation.
After the 3 years I was able to have my record expunged which I did in July of 1996.

I have not got in any trouble since then if I wanted to purchase a Firearm would I pass the back ground check?

If you can get the felony retroactively reduced to a misdemeanor, it could be possible. I suggest you speak to an attorney in your area for assistance.

Good luck.

If you were convicted of a felony? Either you were or you weren’t. :) I assume you mean to say that you were in fact convicted of a felony back in 1992. You will need to review exactly what the effect of the expungement was back in 1996. Ask an attorney who practices criminal law in California about that. Under present California law, if you obtained expungement under PC 1203.4 then you would still be prohibited from possessing any firearm or firearm ammunition as that expungement does not restore that right.

pjcar would not pass the background check as his record stands currently, despite the expungement.

His felony (expunged or not) must be reduced first (perhaps to an HS 11377 misdemeanor).

It probably is not EASY to do ... so an attorney in California seems a necessity.

I would check with your attorney to be sure but if your methamphetamine felony was reduced prior to expungement to a misdemeanor (personal use possession?), that makes a difference.

Good luck.
