What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AR/IL

So after going through all the issues over the state of IL intercepting my income tax refund, it has been release back to me. I am told I should expect it in my mail box any day.

But, they told me they are going to open a support case against dad. Will send me the paperwork and all that.

Since I live in another state, would this actually be possible? The woman who I spoke with told me that she was not sure if I would have to go to IL for court or not.. Does anyone know if I would have to travel there for court?

I have not opened a case against him here because honestly I don't see him ever paying. Since it would cost me to open a case, then the expense of going back and forth to court over it (which I would have to do here).. I just don't feel the expense and aggravation is worth it.

The child support rep. told me that since he is in that state it would be easier for them to garnish any of his income and to enforce it, since he is physically there.. As opposed to enforcing an order obtained here in the state that the children and I reside.

If they can get support out of him, then great.. But given his past history and his feelings about support, I just don't see it happening in all honesty.
