Hey, today the school went through everyones cars and found some drugs in a few of them. I know drugs are wrong, but what about the invasion of privacy? Isn't this a illegal search and seizure? I mean they didn't have provable cause, but this one girl at school said "If they bring the dog out into the parking lot they can check the car for drugs if the dog smells it". Please answer this within 24 hours.

The school is Public property, and you are parked on public property.

Your PARENTS pay tons of TAX money for that public property, shouldnt they have a right not to have anything Illegal happen on Public property?

HINT>>>>>>> this is how they catch the EASY stupid criminals, they carry drugs in a car, or they get stopped by the cops for say a busted tail light and whoooooops, we smell some pot.....or an open beer container, and then they have probable cause to search the car and find the Ounce of meth hidden in the trunk!

Check your school handbook. Most Texas schools clearly state that the district has the right to search any student, their belongings or their personal property at any time without notice while on campus.

If drug dogs were brought on campus and drugs were found in your car, its very likely you will be charged with "possession."

No it is no illegal search and seizure because in this day and age, instutions of learn are dangerous and the responsibility of the administration is to protect every student. That often requires the search your described.
