I am 17 years old and in the united states army. I want to marry my high school sweet heart hes of legal age but I'm not. I know my mom will sign but where do I look for the right paper work? I am in texas

no lectures, but 17 is really young to know what you want to do for the rest of your life.
you must be 18 years of age to marry in the state of texas. the cost is $31 (approximate, it may differ by counties or districts). there is a 72 hour waiting period after you obtain your license. the license is valid for 30 days (got get married before then or they are no good). no blood tests are required.
if your mother is willing to sign for the marriage you are okay.
you can obtain a marriage license for any county courthouse. they should have the parental slips there to.
you are old enough to make your own decisions on what you want to do with you life, but you need your mom's permission to act on them. something doesn't seem right there.

Before you decide to marry at 17, you need to decide to have your head examined. And, if your mother is willing to sign for you, she should join you at the shrink's office.
Seriously, learn to live before tying yourself down to one man. Forever is a long time. If it's the real thing, it'll wait!

17 is not too young to be married
Thank you all for your answers they were very helpful and insiteful... how ever if I am old enough to die for my country then I am old enough to be married. Age is only a number maturity is what counts. I know 17 dosn't seem like a lot of time but the stuff I have been through has brought me up in an adult world since I was very young. I know the consiquences and believe this is the best thing for me. If your wondering why we dont just wait if we wait we will not be stationed together hes my soul mate. hes everything to me and with out him I would feel like half my soul was missing. I dont relie on him but at the same time have you ever met someone and knew you would be together forever? We are connected and nothing will drag us apart. He is my other half. Dose that make any sense? I hope you all understand that young marriages can last. My parents have been married since they were 17 and are very happily married. It is possible dont ever doubt love.

alot of things have changed since your parents were married. shoot, lots of things have changed since i was first got married.
we were not trying to discourage you, really. we just wanted you to be aware that marriage is not an easy thing. if it was as hard to get into it as it was to get out of it, i honestly do not think as many people would get married.
another thing - if i were your mother, i would insist on both of you taking a counseling course on marriage. to make sure that you both knew what you were getting into. (courthouses should required this for young marriages) i honestly don't know if i could sign or not. i would want my daughter to be happy, but i could see 5 years down the road - "if you wouldn't have signed and let me get married i wouldn't be in this situation."
