I need help desperately. I have been approved for H1B visa about year and a half ago, however I am not working for the company that has initially sponsored me. I have been offered a position elsewhere that I have taken though they were not aware of my immigration status. They are going to call INS to verify and see if I can work in the US legally on Monday. I wasn't aware that was the procedure and I am not sure if I want to take the chance of INS finding out, I have been in the country illegally past year or so. Should I go ahead and quit now? I also have another problem that I was involved with an American about a year ago who has abused me physically. When the police arrived, they both took us to jail and on the court date I was advised to plead guilty since it was his word against mine and since I am not a citizen the judge would more than likely find me guilty. I was also told that if I go to counseling, the domestic violence charges would be off my record which turned out to be wrong. So, my question is what should I do with this new job situation? And also is there any way I can be granted the green card in the future with the domestic violence charge on my record, as well as having stayed in the country illegally for over a year? By the way, I have initially entered the country on a student visa and I have been here roughly 6+ years now. I really appreciate all your help and I would also be grateful if you could answer my questions before Monday morning. Once again, thank you for your time.
