Immediate Pay Question

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Connecticut

Was terminated for Cause on 8/31, but placed on a one-month "garden leave" with a last day on payroll of Monday, 10/3. CT is an immediate pay state, where anyone terminated (for reasons other than layoff/reduction force) are entitled to receive full pay owed within one business day. I received half of my final pay via live check today; the rest is being deposited tomorrow on the regular pay date. Neither of these payments are in compliance with state statutes.

Taking into consideration the garden leave, do I have a legitimate complaint with the CT DOL? It seems to me a last day on payroll is a last day on payroll.

If you were on "garden leave" then you had not been terminated yet.

Also, "Garden leave" is not "wages" as defined by Conn. Gen. Stat. Ann. § 31-71c therefore the requirement does not apply.

See OP's posting history. This seems to be a recurring issue with OP. Why is that, OP?

Also, based on his posting history, OP gets all wound up at us if the law isn't to his liking (like the law is somehow our fault). Given that you hate us OP, why're you back?

I just saw this as I was posting a completely unrelated question in another area.

I don't hate anyone, eerelations... I was just asking a question. And I fully understand the law is the law... that I want to defend myself appropriately is just human nature, not any mistrust of the legal system. No idea why you made this so personally motivated.

Any particular reason why you felt compelled to respond to this four years after the fact? Everyone else, apparently including you, had completely forgotten about it until you brought it up.

I think the user name says it all. Perhaps OP just "flew over" this very old thread. :D

Like I said, I didn't see it until now. I was just answering eerelations' question, despite the age. But I still don't understand why you're being unnecessarily hostile. I was just looking for advice.

I think you are reading hostility where it does not exist. I was simply asking a question.

Sorry, but I find this hostile. I never said I hated anyone, or had any sort of disrespect for the law.

Sorry, but I find this hostile. I never said I hated anyone, or had any sort of disrespect for the law.

And I never said you did either.

All I was referring to was your extreme hostility towards the expert volunteers here whenever they provided you with sound and accurate legal information. And I wondered why, in light of this hostility of yours (expressed often as disbelief and anger that we were somehow "lying" to you or possibly we were just plain stupid), you were continuing to return here. If I was on a site where I was receiving information that I was convinced was either lies or stupid, I would stop going to that site.

So really, given that you think everything we say is lies or stupid, why are you returning here?

So, I went back and checked some of my other, older threads to see where I had accused anyone of being stupid or lying... I had forgotten that I got the same line of hostility from you before regarding other questions.

I never once said you (or anyone else for that matter) were stupid or that you were lying. Not once. And if I seemed angry, argumentative or contrary, it was only because it was an upsetting situation and I was seeking to explore all the options before just throwing in the towel. That you somehow misconstrued that as me being disrespectful is your damage.

I, like everyone else here, come here looking for answers in an arena that is negative by nature. Legal matters are generally no fun. And I appreciate those who can honestly help here. You seem to be more focused on attacking me personally, as evidenced by your previous, off-topic jabs. So no, I'm not saying you're lying or stupid... I am saying you're being unnecessarily mean-spirited, which I simply don't get.

My most recent question (in an entirely different part of the forum) was answered succinctly, so I'm done here. Best of luck to you.

I never said you called us stupid or liars. I said your behaviour indicated that you seemed to think so. And said behaviour of yours is disrespectful. Finally, speaking on behalf of most/all of my Esteemed Colleagues here, we are glad you're done. Thank you for leaving. :)

I had no idea you were a psychologist as well as a legal expert. Again, that you misconstrue my questions as being disrespectful is your damage, not mine.

Finally, speaking on behalf of most/all of my Esteemed Colleagues here, we are glad you're done. Thank you for leaving. :)

And finally, speaking on behalf of most/all of the people here simply looking for help who wound up being attacked personally, thank you for nothing.

Sweetie, it's you that's misconstruing me! :D

When I mentioned your behaviour, I wasn't talking about your questions, I was talking about your replies to our sound, accurate and informative responses to your questions. By your own admission your replies were "angry, argumentative or contrary" - this is the behaviour that I called disrespectful.

OP, the fact that you keep coming back here (when you promised us you wouldn't, darn silly me for actually believing you!) over and over to argue (ooops, I see you're still behaving disrespectfully!) with us and twist our words around so you look like a sweet innocent angel fighting the big bad legal experts tells me that you're seriously on the defensive. Which means you know we're right about you. And which means if you come back here again, you are admitting that we're right.

So have at it - are you going to come back here and admit we're right, or are you going to leave us alone as you promised earlier?
