My husband and I have been married for 6 years and are thinking about a divorce. He is from England and had a permanent alien resident card for the first two years of our marriage. We have recently learned that it expired 4 years ago. He has filed new papers and is currently on a 30 day extension while they review his file. Can he be deported even though we are still married. Also, if we get divorced what will happen to his status here.

He will not be deported while you are married. Do not divorce until he gets the 10 year residency card.
