I am looking for the statute of limitations for filing charges for child sexual abuse, incest, sexual assault, etc. for the state of Indiana. I reside in NH, but the abuse took place in Indiana. I understand I would need to file charges in the state of occurence. Is that correct?

The last incident happened when I was about 12. I had repressed memories until the age of 20. I am approaching 40, and would like to somehow find restitution either through criminal or civil court. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. I am lost when looking through their criminal code.

So you want to press charges or sue someone for something that happened 28 years ago ? What stopped you from doing this when you were 20 ?

Replying in earnest

Frankly, if you a familiar with child sexual abuse and the impact you will understand that it took 20 years of therapy to get to a point where I am not angry about the actual incident, but I am still suffering from effects of the abuse. I did not even remember the incident until a severe depression hit at 19, and the cause was uncovered. I'm more interested in receiving compensation for the 20 years of therapy (you can imagine the funds) and the effects on health, etc. So in effect, I relate it to an accident and I am looking for compensation for the damages resulting from the accident. I believe this may be more of a civil case than a criminal case. If you have any information, I would appreciate it. Thank you for your response.
