What is the name of your state? Illinois
One year ago I (a U.S. Citizen) married a Mongolian national. When applying for the green card the process went very smooth and she now has a green card. However, we are also trying to get her 7 year old son over here and the process went very smooth until it hit the National Visa Center who I have called three times to get them to send the next form necessary. Each time the response was "oh, we already sent that out" and miriculously it arrived within a few days. The length of time between these corresponsences convinces me that it was my call which was needed to "remind" them to send the next form. So now we wait again. This time over 2 months since the visa fee was mailed in. The NVC response, "oh, we sent that out in April". (highly unlikely) we'll see how long the DS-320 form takes now. Okay, sorry about the ranting, but what I really want to know is how we keep the NVC on track and when, and if, our son gets here what do I need to do to adopt him legally and get him permanent residence or citizenship? Also, if you have any experience such as mine, could you tell me how, if at all, you were able to get the NVC to stay on task with a case rather than letting it go by the wayside until the petitioner calls up to "remind" them of the next step. Thanks for any info you may have.
