insurance company makes agreement to pay then don't..

I made a verbal agreement with a well known insurance company to privide medical services to their client they paid me for a total of three months then stopped paying and have given no reason why! I no longer provide home health care and the insurance company owes me almost 18,000. and it has been almost a year are they not obligated to pay me??? please respond as my time may be running short....
