What is the name of your state? Ohio, I work for a school system. Last year I was on medical leave for cancer and am back at work now but hurt my back moving books in the library. I filed workmans comp for this. They are laying off employees. I believe I will get bumped. Do I lose my insurance? I am still going for cancer check ups every 3 months and gets expensive. Thanks

An employer MIGHT offer to continue your insurance for a specified length of time as part of your severance package but unless you have a contract that says otherwise, they are not required to by law.

As somarco says, if they do not offer to continue your coverage you always have the option of electing COBRA.
