I live in New York state.

My ex boyfriend had an accident 3 and 1/2 years ago while on vacation. He told lies to his employer and his insurance companies about how the accidend happened. He told them that he was on his way to do something work related. The insurance company paid all the medical expense and the company paid him full for 6 month while he was on disability leave.

I recently found out that he was cheating on me for the past 2 years and asked him for compensation (money). When he refused, I told him that I will tell his former employer and his insurance company about the accident.

Though I told him that I do not want any money anymore, he tells me that I blackmailed him and would sue me if I tell them about the accident.

Can he really sue me if I tell the truth?
If I do not say anything, would I be responsible for helping him to cover up his fraud?
