What is the name of your state? GA
I see a lot of sites advertising gambling on the internet. I frequently get popup ads. What is the legal status of this? I thought that it was illegal to provide online gambling for money in the US.

Those sites are operated outside of the US making US laws uneforceable. But you still have to pay for any money you lose though, don't think that you can go there and if you lose, not pay.

If you are in a state or area that allows gambling, then it is ok. But if you are in a jurisdiction that does not allow gambling, you would be breaking the law by using those websites.
The Feds have already cracked down on some "offshore" gambling websites but like porno sites, new ones keep popping up all the time.

Ooh! Pogo.com is free to play and you win real money. My grandma won a few thousand on it. It gets money from the ads on the site and the occassional ad breaks.
