I currently live in Texas with my 3 1/2 year old daughter. I am trying to come up with a reasonable transportation agreement with my ex concerning my daughter. My ex lives in Kansas. It is a 10 hour trip one way from his place to mine. When I moved away we agreed that one month I would come to Wichita and the next month he would come to Texas. I provided my every other month visitation with him only coming down 2 times in a year and a half. His mother came down once to pick her up for a visit which was a week long and I picked her up at the end of. Now my ex has changed it to where we are to meet halfway every month. We meet on Friday evening and then again Sunday evening. He also gets every other holiday. I only agreed to this because he was threatening to take me to court for custody and I didnt have the money to fight him. I need an idea for what a reasonable transportation and visitation agreement would be. I want to take him to court now and get this settled. Our arrangements out of court are not working because he is constantly wanting to change them to better himself. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. thank you. Please keep in mind that I also have 2 younger children that I have to take on these trips with me that are not his and my 2 year old gets violently car sick with every trip. I get a 240 a month child support knowing that if I went to court he would be ordered to pay more.

Your problem is that you were the one that moved away. It seems to be a common mis-conception that a CP can tear a child away from the NCP and expect the NCP to then do all the running about. Had he done something about it at the time, he could have stopped you from moving or had it court ordered that you pay for all visitation costs.

It is obviously not healthy for children to spend 20 hours during a weekend in a car, but, why did you not think of this before moving? The problems with the other younger children are not relevant in this case. Chances are, a judge will order you both to meet halfway.
