What is the name of your state? New York.My father just passed away recently, dying suddenly. As if he knew he wouldn't be around much longer ,he gave me his entire IRA account in the form of 3 separate checks. My question is whom will be responsible for the taxes?I should add that he has no other sizeable worth(i.e. no property, checking &savings under 20,000.00)

He is. The distributions will show up on his final tax return, which you as executor (I assume) will have to file.
